Michael Deerwater

Michael (he/they) is working toward a Creative Writing doctorate at the University of Glasgow. His work explores expressions of post-anthropocene futures in speculative fiction. He is a member of the University of Glasgow’s Centre for Fantasy and the Fantastic and is actively involved in youth work with Volunteer Glasgow and Glasgow City Council. His work has been published in Surveillance & Society Journal and he recently presented a paper on Radical Empathy at the IAFA’s Once and Future Fantasies conference. Before returning to academia he worked as a financial analyst, media analyst, journalist and copywriter.
