About Us

Bio-Lit Talks is an interdisciplinary collaboration between doctoral researchers at the University of Glasgow. Born from an enthusiasm for the scientific and the literary, the project aims to bring together subject areas to explore the ways in which we ask and answer questions about the world.

Our debut series examined Infectious Diseases, delving into the words of authors and mechanisms of pathogens. In autumn 2022 we explored perceptions of The Gut, the science behind its working along with its literary understanding and representation. In 2023 we discussed Death and Dying and their inextricable connection to our everyday cognition, imagination, behaviour, and societal structures.

Brining together scientists, humanities academics, and artists, our discussions explore fresh perspectives on topical themes; fostering interdisciplinarity and incentivising collaborations.
